About Game or Watch

Game or Watch is...

  • A chance to play all sorts of games - computer, board and mind;

  • An afternoon out with a great bunch of people. Ok, we might use odd names online, but that's only so that our bosses don't know that we spend 7 hours per day posting messages on forums or buying more games;
  • Set in THE best pub in London. Michael, the landlord, is a true gent. And not a gent in the 'yeah, alright fellas. Chelsea for the title, yeah, yeah - oh that pint's four pounds' type way. A gent in the 'sorry, we stopped doing food 30 minutes ago. Tell you what, how about I go and russle up a sausage sandwich, would that do you? And chips?' type way.

  • Fairly random. Where else could you play games, then watch jazz music performed by a band with a guitarist that has only just met the other musicians. And can't play the guitar.

  • Set in Soho. If you want drugs, porn or to mug Japanese tourists afterwards you're in the perfect place.

Game or Watch isn't...

  • Elitist. We're like Stockport; we're shit and we know we are;

  • Expensive. There aren't any entry fees. Just turn up and play a game - it really is that simple;

  • A cover for bizarre sex games. Yes, we're in Soho, no, we don't swing from the chandeliers;

  • A club for vampires. We like the Sun as much as anyone - look out for our summer sports spectacular...;

  • Big enough to get sole use of a room. Turn up and expect to see a few bemused tourists wander in and then try to work out whether it's normal for people to play board games in British pubs.

Game of the month

Scrabble was de rigour in April, to use two words that would only be allowed in a French version of the game. Well, they might be allowed in some places, Stoke for example, where pretty much every other word is derrr, or err, or ummm.

But we play Scrabble on a different level. Just look at the words going across - Danger, Dork, Feels, Mail. That's a sentence, not just a selection of random words.

Danger, dork feels mail. Who wouldn't be worried by that - little weirdos getting kicks by touching up your bills and postcards, leaving odd little stains in the corner...

Oh, we also played Trivial Pursuit, but there's no need to go into that.
